SmiteFest 2 recap

Once again, SmiteFest was AWESOME.
The day started early, when Eric and I went to the KOMO 1000 studios to appear on Charlie Harger‘s radio show. We talked about SmiteFest, trends in gaming, trends in church, and how the nature of community is changing in the 21st century. At Charlie’s urging I also once again challenged the Lutherans to come to SmiteFest and show the Episcopalians how they roll.
We met again at noon in the undercroft. Eric and Stephanie came loaded with roughly a gazillion games:
After setting up, we kicked off eight hours of gaming! About 20 people showed up (including a couple of Third Place Gamers) to play games such as Sarcophagus, Dominion, Cribbage, Blokus, El Grande, Risk, and many more.
You can find a full list of what we played (with commentary) at BoardGame Geek.
We had pizza from Pagliacci, fresh-baked cookies, and just generally had a blast. We can’t wait to do it again.
(By the way, if you run a gaming group and want to have an event in the undercroft at Redeemer, just contact out church office at office@redeemer-kenmore.org.)

I heard bits and pieces of that interview when I was driving to the gym. I thought it was you guys, wasn’t 100% sure though. Great job.

Thank you! Going on live radio is always kind of a daunting thing when you’re not used to it — glad to hear we did okay.

Damn, you guys look like a fun group! I’ve been playing board games (or should I say: trying to play) for years, unfortunately in my small backwater town the only gaming group is a bunch of hmm, how to put it … well, idiots. All they play is DnD and while it’s fun, especially with minis, it gets boring …
Too bad we’re separated by the Atlantic ocean, I sure would like to join you

If you ever make it out to Seattle, will will totally hook you up with some board games!
Hmm…maybe you could get them to play a board game that’s kind of like DnD? Such as Red Dragon Inn?

Is there any way to listen to that radio appearance? Never had a chance to catch it and I’d love to listen to it. Sounds like it was fun.
